From the Chalp plateau we will descend through the mysterious gorges of the Guil, a wild canyon between the town and the fort.
We will contemplate the Hand of the Titan, a geological folly sculpted by erosion. Then, going up a path, we will enter the fortress of Mont-Dauphin, a jewel of military architecture, where we will visit the old and very beautiful maturing cellars of the Cooperative Laitière des Alpes du Sud - we will taste the Queyras blue cheese, a cheese of character. On the way back, we will take a path literally dug in the cliff overhanging the Guil river, nicknamed "la Rue des Masques" (the street of the wizards and its legends). We will finish the day with a splendid panorama on the fort and on the summits of the Écrins.
Required level: easy hike on a path, suitable for families (300 m of positive and negative altitude difference, 4 hours of effective walking).
Equipment to bring : hiking shoes, windproof and waterproof jacket, hat and sunglasses, water bottle, fleece, cap, picnic.
