The Costeplane and La Blache waterfalls are the benchmark here in Ubaye.
There are two routes to choose from, depending on what you're looking for.
The introductory descent lasts around 2h/2h30 in the river. It's a very progressive itinerary, accessible to everyone aged 14 and over. It starts with small waterfalls of 5 or 6 metres to familiarise you with the rope techniques, followed by increasingly impressive descents ending with a 12-metre abseil. The descents can be adapted to suit the group, with a choice of big showers or less watery sections to suit everyone.
The expert canyoning course is the continuation of the introductory part, which adds 1h30 to the descent for a final itinerary of around 4 hours. The setting is much more impressive, with a deep canyon between two cliffs.
It is reserved for those who want a thrill: more water (a second stream is added to double the volume), more height (waterfalls of up to 25 metres) and an ascent via a via ferrata just above the Ubaye.
