Although every encounter is unique, Carole loves to take her visitors for a stroll through California.
Stroll in the hills above Cannes "Californie Pezou & Montfleury".
The Californie district: Carole invites you to explore the heritage of Cannes during the Belle Epoque. Crowned heads and famous personalities made this hillside their home. The facades and roofs of these homes bear witness to the arrival of winterers on the Côte d'Azur, helping to shape the image of Cannes.
This tour will introduce you to the history of this district on the heights of Cannes, the most residential part of the city, surrounded by lush greenery. The Mecca of 19th-century aristocracy, when the international nobility who made Cannes one of the world's most famous cities decided to settle here at the end of the 19th century, you'll discover these prestigious residences with their diverse architectural styles and the Cannes history of their illustrious occupants, enhanced by a few anecdotes.
By the way, what exactly are Greeters®?
It's a worldwide community of local people who volunteer to welcome anyone interested in discovering an area from the point of view of the locals.
Meeting a Greeter is the promise of a memorable moment with a volunteer who is passionate about, and an ambassador for, his or her town or region. Greeters enjoy welcoming visitors as they would friends. They give up their time to show visitors the places they love, tell them about their history, their neighborhood or village, and share their way of life.
Make no mistake, a Greeter is not a professional guide! The places you'll be passing through are just a pretext for meeting them, and a way of better understanding how they live. Come alone or in a group of up to six people for a stroll or a chat over a drink.
If you believe that travel can be a vehicle for peace and better understanding between peoples, then a meeting with a Greeter is for you! Greeters share the idea that this is only right if there is a genuine exchange between people and visitors, and that this should not be limited to an act of consumption. Don't look for a price: meeting a greeter is always free (yes, it is!).
All Greeters® share the same core values
1. Greeters are volunteers, they are a friendly face for the visitor(s)
2. The Greeters welcome individuals and groups of up to 6 people
3. Meeting a Greeter is completely free
4. Greeters welcome everyone without any discrimination.
5. The networks of Greeters are part of a sustainable tourism approach that respects the environment and people. They participate in the cultural and economic enrichment of local communities and contribute to the positive image of the destination.
6. Greeters networks promote mutual enrichment and cultural exchanges between individuals for a better world.
