Three days to learn how to whisper in your horse's ear! Immerse yourself in horse-rider communication with an intensive three-day course dedicated to the ethological knowledge of the French Equestrian Federation (FFE).
Whether you want to deepen your relationship with your horse or pass your first federal exams, this course offers you an immersive experience combining technique, equine psychology, and bonding. Why take this course?
Ethology is not a separate discipline; it is the basis of all ethical and respectful horse riding. This course is designed to give you the keys to understanding equine behavior. You will learn to decode the horse's body language to anticipate its reactions, establish benevolent leadership based on mutual trust, and thus make your practice safer, both on foot and in the saddle, so that you can evolve in harmony, replacing force with understanding.
The program: a step-by-step progression. The course covers the entire official FFE program, from Savoir 1 (Understanding and Approaching) to Savoir 3 (Communicating in the Saddle).
Day 1: Foundations & Savoir 1
- Theory: Observing the herd, the horse's five senses, its learning style, and its time budget.
- Practice on foot: Approaching the stall and pasture, putting on the halter, leading the horse with precision, and the first requests for disengagement and backing up.
- Objective: Become an attentive and respected partner.
Day 2: Communication on Foot & Knowledge 2
- Theory: Communication codes, pressure management (positive/negative reinforcement, comfort/discomfort) and reading stress signals.
- Practice on foot: Work on a 3.7-meter lunge line. Learning the 7 games (Parelli style), overcoming obstacles (bridge, tarp, slaloms) and managing direction and pace from a distance.
- Objective: Establish a fluid connection without direct physical contact.
Day 3: Transferring to the saddle & knowledge 3
- Theory: The influence of seat position, transferring aids from the ground to the saddle, and safety outdoors.
- Practical work in the saddle: Riding with an ethological halter or a bitless bridle. Work on the independence of aids, control of the hips and shoulders, and response to isolated leg aids. Precision exercises at all three gaits.
- Objective: To achieve the same lightness and responsiveness in the saddle as on the ground.
Duration: 3 consecutive days (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Option to come for one or two days depending on availability, €85/day with our horses, €75/day for riders with their own horses. Contact me by phone.
Audience: riders of all levels (ages 12 and up), valid FFE license required.
Equipment: provided (ethological halters, lunge lines).
You can bring your own horse.
Certification: Savoirs 1, 2 and/or 3 exams can be taken at the end of the course.
Meals: bring a picnic lunch (relaxation area available).
