Have you always dreamed of going on a hike with your horse but don't know where to start? Are you afraid to go alone but dream of sleeping in a tent next to your horse?
Then this week is for you! Over the course of a week, you'll learn everything you need to know to become independent when hiking and set off without any worries!
A week-long course and two days of guided hiking to put everything you've learned into practice:
Monday - introduction, round table discussion, defining your expectations;
Tuesday - preparing for my hike: orientation, topography, GPS, IGN maps, distances, speeds;
Wednesday - I trust my horse: ethology and mountain trail/PTV to build trust and rapport;
Thursday - I learn how to manage safety without panicking: equine and human first aid, basic veterinary concepts, farriery troubleshooting;
Friday - I learn rope work and lashing to prepare for departure; chair knots, lark's heads, and double Dutchman knots will hold no secrets for me when it comes to making a tether line!
Saturday and Sunday: Two days of practical trail riding to put everything I've learned into practice in real conditions and learn how to manage a bivouac! Accommodation and full board are included for these two days, except for Saturday's picnic lunch.
For those who wish, it is possible to obtain the FFE Certificates of Knowledge in “Introduction to Orienteering” and “Equine Care and First Aid - Horse Maintenance.”
Please note that we do not offer accommodation from Monday to Friday, but we can put you in touch with our accommodation partners. If you come with your horse, we can accommodate it in a paddock. The cost of boarding is in addition to the cost of the course. You can book your boarding nights in the extras after selecting the course date in the reservation, as well as the FFE License (mandatory).
Audience: ages 12 and up, riders comfortable at all three gaits, Galop 3 level.
