The 2 brothers Alexis and Olivier have taken over this former customs house in the heart of the Queyras. They offer a friendly welcome and accommodation in dormitories. Both are chefs by trade, and have brought their passion and love to the place.

What an environment! Perched at 1700 m at the foot of the Col Lacroix on the GR 58, the refuge de La Monta has it all: breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, sunshine all day long, and air so pure it almost intoxicates you! Just a stone's throw from the Mont Viso biosphere reserve, the refuge is located in the middle of meadows, and from the terrace it's not unusual to spot marmots and mouflons frolicking in unspoilt alpine nature. This little corner of paradise has been Alexis and Olivier's playground since childhood. The two brothers often climbed in the hamlet where their grandmother was born. Today, all that remains is the chapel, a sheepfold and the former customs building, now a gîte refuge. Meals are served in a large, cosy dining room, where the soul of the mountain farmhouses of yesteryear is inscribed. Prepared from local produce, the cuisine is home-cooked, generous and comforting. It's a cozy refuge, with renovated dormitories.
You already feel you're somewhere else, somewhere in the mountains, almost in Italy!
