The gîte is located in the heart of a property of 80 ha "the Commandery of Saint-Maymes", at 1000 m altitude in the Haut Var, at the entrance of the spectacular Verdon Gorges.
The farm is nestled on a vast plateau 7 km from the small medieval village of Trigance. The building consists of two buildings separated by a lane of white stone polished by time (Calade) dating from the 12th century: an old commandery of the Templar order. It overlooks an immense plain bordering the small mountain of Chastillon. It houses at its summit the remains of an oppidum.
ACCOMMODATION
The gîte is located in one of the buildings. It is a terraced house of 80 m² on three levels. Old sheepfold transformed with taste and ranked Panda Gîte where you can discover an educational trunk (books, binoculars, maps of the region). On the ground floor, a fenced garden, a kitchen with a pizza oven, cellar, a toilet and a living room. On the first floor, a fireplace, two single beds and the bathroom. Finally a staircase leads to a mezzanine with a double bed. It gives on a small terrace from where one can admire the plain.

In the 70s, a couple, Maguy and Dominique, fell under the spell of this Templar commandery. She decided to raise goats there, while he set up his sculpture studio.
Today, they offer a comfortable 4-person gîte with a kitchen and pizza oven, private garden and terrace overlooking the plain.
Set in an 80-hectare estate, 7 km from the medieval village of Trégance, the building exudes a soothing perfume of authenticity.
Binoculars, IGN maps and nature guides are available for travelers wishing to explore the areas surrounding the Commanderie. This peaceful area is not far from the Verdon Gorge and its many sporting activities.
