Refuge keeper Raphaël welcomes you to the Authion building for the winter season. There's plenty to do, including visits to the mine, nature walks and themed evenings.

Neige et Merveilles is located in the mining hamlet of Vallauria, an ancient mining village dating back to the 11th century. The buildings are grouped around the torrent l'inferno. The hamlet is located within a stone's throw of the famous Valley of Wonders and the heart of the Mercantour National Park. 12km from the first village, Tende, it is nestled in a larch forest, with a surprising mineral and chaotic decor whose names come straight from the popular imagination: Val d'enfer, Pas du diable, torrent l'enfer, etc... Here you will find majestic landscapes that have remained untouched since the dawn of time.

From the 11th century to 1927, a silver mine was exploited in the Roya valley. Today, thanks to an association, the hamlet developed around this activity has been reborn with a new vocation.
Neige & Merveilles is the perfect place for families and groups to stay. Whether in rooms or 6-person mini-dormitories, summer or winter, the site is ideal for discovering the exceptional nature of the Mercantour and the archaeological treasures of the Vallée des Merveilles.
The gîte is committed to an ecological approach, using solar collectors for hot water; electricity is supplied by a micro-hydro plant. The cuisine is prepared using fresh, local produce, and once a week, the meal is vegetarian!
