Refuge de Nice

Perhaps the first reward after hours of walking is to quench your thirst on the refuge's terrace overlooking Lac de la Fous. The view of the peaks is exceptional. It's not uncommon to spot ibex and chamois scampering along the rock faces. On summer nights, at an altitude of 2232 m, the spectacle of the Milky Way is unforgettable.
With a capacity of 54 people, the Nice refuge offers a comforting stopover on the GR 52 route, or an ideal base camp for mountaineering enthusiasts. Christophe, the janitor, concocts a generous cuisine using local and organic produce. A special mention goes to his blueberry panna cotta!
In winter, a wood-burning stove and blankets are available for up to twenty people.
