The Valmasque refuge is located in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, on the banks of Lac Vert. Set in a world of rocks and alpine grass, this cosy refuge opens onto a large, beautiful terrace.

Committed to eco-responsible tourism and keen to reduce the impact on the environment, Catherine the caretaker (and therefore the refuge) has been awarded the 'Esprit Parc National' label. This label is a real recognition of our work and the different choices we have made in managing the building. We are also members of the Mercantour Ecotourisme association.

Reservations required

At an altitude of over 2200 m, the Valmasque refuge enjoys a spectacular panorama overlooking Lac Vert. It's the address of choice for hikers and mountaineers who love this corner of the mountains, in the heart of the Mercantour National Park.
In the midst of a grandiose natural setting, the refuge's janitor strives to reduce the gîte's environmental impact. Despite its isolated location, the kitchen is stocked with fresh produce every week! She owes this feat to Caprice, Oscar, Djando and Merlin, her 4 donkeys, who effectively reduce helicopter rotations. For Catherine, promoting more sustainable development also means encouraging the local economy, opting for short circuits, and promoting the region, its culture, crafts and gastronomy.
