This typically Marseillais establishment got its name because, in the days when absinthe and anisette were produced in the south of France, beer from the north (Belgium, Denmark) or the east (Alsace, Germany) always passed through Lyon on horseback.
Later, like a number of other establishments in the Noailles district, the brewery made its own beer. All that remains today is the Brasserie de Lyon, which has been converted into a restaurant. Today, the restaurant offers a fusion of Asian, traditional and Provençal cuisine, from Monday to Saturday, for individuals and groups (seminars, birthdays, etc.).
