In its workshop in the heart of the village, the Fée Capeline welcomes you and will make you enter the world of felt hats creation: Emilie will tell you the history and manufacture of wool felt and will be able, if you wish, to introduce you to molding, the shaping of steam hats using a traditional method… with natural wools.
- "Once upon a time in the Roya Valley, there was a rather unusual hat maker... Today, her precious headgear travels all over France. But who is hiding behind this fairy cap? Émilie Olivier is not only a talented artist, she is also at the heart of a formidable project to promote the region. This felt-maker has chosen to work with wool from shepherds' clippings to make hats adapted to the high altitude climate. She has thus revived old techniques and included her creations in a process of safeguarding the European wool industry and collaborates with breeders, shearers, spinners and craftsmen. A great dynamic for 100% natural and local products, hats off to them!
