The coral gatherer holds a selective fishing permit issued by the maritime prefect. He or she acquires the essential know-how needed to harvest red coral while preserving the seabed.
It's deep and dangerous fishing, long and conscientious, from 40 to 120 m.
When he's finished fishing, he brings up his basket of coral. The ascent is a crucial stage, and takes about 3 hours in stages.
...to the pearl
The coral is then cleaned of all impurities. It is then dried and blunted, before being transformed into unique jewels at L'atelier du Corail.
