Sails with a history transformed into bags, accessories and decorative objects. Sails which, after having sailed for a long time, find a second life!
When her friend left in 2002 to go around the world, Anne Couderc made bags from her used sails to accompany her on her journey. The bags went around the world, and other bags followed, for the swimming pool, sailing... The pleasure of creating new products, always unique, and the encouragement of her friends and family encouraged Anne to go further. In 2005, she started the business from a professional angle, entering a business incubator to get the project off the ground. The Les Toiles du Large brand was registered in spring 2006. The collection of sails was organised: the concept of one sail, one bag was announced: each sail donor would receive a bag made from his own sail. Anne's desire for a social and ecological approach led her to form a partnership with local sheltered workshops, where disabled people sew the products and fit them with eyelets and press studs. It was in this authentic and human spirit that Les Toiles du Large was born in spring 2007. The business grew and her husband Stéphane joined the ship in early 2010. In 2012, Les Toiles du Large moved into the Armement building, on the site of the La Ciotat shipyards, to set up its first workshop-boutique. Since the beginnings of Les Toiles du Large in 2002, the philosophy has remained unchanged: to sublimate the sails. Only the position of the seams, eyelets and navigation scars give the creations their character, their elegance and evoke the memory of a previous life.
