In Provence, Marseille, Sanary-sur-Mer and the Milles internment camp near Aix-en-Provence bear witness to the passage and work of many German-speaking writers and artists opposed to the Nazi regime from which they fled in 1933. Today, artists, associations and tourist offices are keeping alive the history and memory of these exiles, through stories and guided tours.
