A center of social life for the American winterers, this place of worship was built from 1887 onwards, according to the plans of W. G. Haberson.
The church and its presbytery were designed to create a picturesque effect on the edge of one of the most prestigious, wide and tree-lined streets in the city. The presence of this church proves the non-European origin of many vacationers from the end of the 19th century.
