This battery dates back to 1890. Its northern section housed the guardhouse and living quarters for the twenty or so men who made up its garrison.

To the south, three batteries were pointed out to sea, each armed with a 270 mm mortar, with the mission of denying a potential adversary any anchorage from which to bombard the port or city of Toulon.

Today, equipped with the largest outdoor stage in the Var (326m²), full stage facilities and a 700-seat capacity, the fort vibrates to the rhythm of the Festival de Théâtre and its 12,000 spectators.
