The Synagogue was built in 1367 and restored in the 18th century by architect Antoine D’Allemand. It is the oldest synagogue in France still in activity.
A registered historic monument, Carpentras synagogue, built in 1367 is the oldest active synagogue in France. With its cemetery, it constitutes a very rich heritage, evidence of a strong history which marked 14th century Provence, a place of memory steeped in emotion.
