Perched 400m above sea level, the village, a listed Picturesque Site in the Alpes-Maritimes département, is huddled around its 12th-century castle and has preserved its traditional Mediaeval architecture.
Its privileged position offers visitors a grand panorama over the entire Lower Var Valley (Plaine du Var) from the Sea to the Alpine peaks. As a holiday destination or for a short stopover, Carros provides calm and authenticity and a pristine natural setting. Today, the Castle houses an International Contemporary Art Centre.

Sights: Castle of Carros (a listed Artistic Natural Site and Monument); many remains: Ancient, Mediaeval and Modern (11th-18th c) and Contemporary (19th-20th c).
