The Jean Giono Center, includes an exhibition space and a documentation center inside the Hôtel Raffin, located not far from the Porte Saunerie, and Le Paraïs, the house and gardens of the writer, located at the foot of the Mont d'Or.
Numerous events are organized throughout the year to promote the life and work of Jean Giono to a wide audience: exhibitions, literary walks, readings and shows, activities and accompaniment of educational projects as well as guided tours of the writer's house.
The Raffin Hotel :
This Provençal mansion dating from the Revolution was the first one built outside the walls of the historic center. Remarkable for its Provençal floor tiles, 18th century woodwork, very beautiful decorated ceilings, it houses the Jean Giono Center, which aims to discover the writer and his work through exhibitions, his house, his gardens, his country.
An exhibition, "Jean Giono, les chemins de l'oeuvre":
A staged tour punctuated with projections, interviews, film excerpts, photographs, letters or evocation of objects that belonged to the author, in French and English.
A garden for writing and reading:
A closed garden remarkable for its rosebushes, its jasmine and honeysuckle fragrances, it offers a unique green setting in the heart of Manosque. You will find there a refuge of reading and writing which will prolong the visit of the exhibitions of the Hotel Raffin.
The store :
A store area is available to the public. Visitors will find exhibition catalogs, the works of Jean Giono, some of his films, postcards, stationery, posters, publications of the associations of the friends of Jean Giono and the friends of Lucien Jacques.
