The chapel of Saint-Martin is situated on the outskirts of the village of Sauze-du-lac, where tranquillity and beautiful scenery await you.
This building dates back to the time of the monks and has an incredible and touching history to share with you.
Perched on a hill, it was restored in 2004. Residents of the former village of Le Sauze repatriated the bell from the old Ribière chapel, which had been swallowed up when the Serre-Ponçon reservoir was impounded. The large key and stoup were found on site during excavations, and can now be seen in a display case. According to legend, children used to be told, and still are today, that under the stones of the chapel lay a treasure: a bishop's ring.
