Built in the 10th century, the Chapel of Saint Roseline houses relics and contemporary works of great value.
Tradition associates the Sainte-Roseline chapel with the ancient monastery of La Celle-Roubaud, named after a hermit who came to find peace in this place. The chapel still houses the relics of Saint Roseline, a Carthusian nun and later prioress of great piety, to whom many miracles are attributed. The remains are displayed in a crystal shrine.
The chapel of Saint Roseline was restored in the 20th century, thanks to the patronage of Adrien Maeght. Contemporary works of art have come to reinforce the identity of the place, without distorting it. You can admire in particular a mosaic made by Marc Chagall. It represents the meal of the Angels, one of the miracles present in the hagiography of Saint Roseline. The building also houses stained glass windows by Jean Bazaine and Raoul Ubac, and a bas-relief by Alberto Giacometti.
