Château des Baumes, 48 Boulevard Dethez, 13800 Istres
Château des Baumes is an Italian-style manor house, dear to the hearts of Istréens, fully restored to become a seminar and work venue for institutions and companies.
The name comes from the caves (baumes) that were visible before the area was urbanized. Auguste Balthazard Denis Arduin (1854-1920) inherited a farm in the Pepi district from his parents. The property included a mansion that the new owner had restored and transformed into an Italian villa. It was at this time that the people of Istré nicknamed it Château Arduin, notably for its second floor and 7-bay loggia, which offered breathtaking views over the Berre and Olivier lakes. During the Second World War, the Germans used it as a hospital.

In 2020 and 2021, the Château des Baumes underwent a complete renovation.

The Tourist Office is specifically responsible for organizing conferences, tours, themed evenings and other events in conjunction with local institutional and tourism partners in the first floor reception room.
It makes available the meeting and conference rooms on the second floor for seminars and colloquia, and rents out the six offices on the second floor.
