Like many of the hamlets in the Pays de La Meije, Le Chazelet has preserved the tradition of "pain noir" (black bread), holding a twice-yearly "bread festival" in the village's traditional communal oven.
Since the 15th century, the tradition of the Bread Festival has endured thanks to the people of the village.
You can visit the oven to discover the tools used to make bread in those days. Your host will also share with you the little secrets of bread-making, still used today in August (on the 15th) and in November.
