Registered by decree on the Supplementary List of Historic Monuments on the 14 October 1997, the Notre Dame de Beauvoir church dominates the town due to its enormous size and the buttresses on its façade, which can be seen from afar.
Called Beauvoir, Belveyre or Beauvezer (to see well), people say that it is, “closer to the angels than men on the ground.” Its panorama is definitely magnificent.
It is a parish church, built in the Provençal Romanesque style and dedicated to Notre Dame de Beauvoir.
The church and its façade were renovated in 2017 and 2018.
Since 28 April 2019, it has housed a unique relic: a stone from Golgotha. Directly from Jerusalem, this fragment of the rock on which Jesus Christ was crucified was a gift from the Custodians of the Holy Land to the parish of Istres.
