The vestibule has a simple, whitewashed ceiling, the floor is covered with terracotta mallons and there are marouflaged canvases (glued to the vault), possibly dating from the 18th century. You'll also discover the two large Baroque altars, the cross vault whose base was removed during the latest excavations, the baptismal font, tabernacles, large paintings and engravings, two remarkable paperolles and numerous ex-votos.
Completed on March 6, 1556 and granted parish autonomy in 1560, the church of Sainte Catherine d'Alexandrie was at the root of the discord that led to the commune's separation from Cannes on August 9, 1774.
This small sanctuary captivates visitors with its quality and authenticity. It comprises a nave with apse, three side chapels and a quadrangular bell tower preceded by a recent vestibule.
There is every reason to believe that the church was not built in a single piece, but underwent four successive enlargements: the original chapel, then the addition of a nave on the south and north sides, and finally, in 1854, the addition of a porch.
You'll also see the Chapelle Saint-Bernardin adjoining the church.
