Standing like a tall stone chimney at 879 m, just above the Auberge du Col de Bruis, this monument commemorates the men who risked their lives to help liberate France.
Inaugurated in the aftermath of the war, 4 years after the exploits of these courageous fighters, it commemorates the events of April 16, 1945: "Here the attack of the Free French Division was launched. These heroic troops, with the help of Resistance fighters and patriots, liberated the Roya and Bévéra valleys, cleared the Authion massif and drove the enemy out of France".
