The land to build it on was finally approved by the bishop in 1641. This church is reffered to as a parish church, on par with the one in Bas-Vernet which was built at the same time. The Saint-Martin church also has a cemetery where all sacraments are administered ; this duality would be the cause of many long precedence conflicts between the two parishes. During the bishop's visit in 1683, he mentions : “this Saint-Martin church is located at the end of the village. There is an altar with a painting repesenting Jesus crucified, Virgin Mary, Saint John on the right and Saint Martin on the left, enclosed in a painted wooden frame. Next to it, there is a wooden bust representing Saint Pancras inside of which there are relics of him sealed with our stamp. The bust is decorated with a small necklace of fine pearls.
