The esplanade des Moulins offers a fantastic panoramic view of Marseille, including Notre Dame de la Garde and sometimes the islands of Frioul and Riou when the sky is clear.
The mills were first was probably located within the Castle (12th century), and then North Dame Street before to find on the current place of the San Sebastian Church. The construction of cutting them wind and requires to move, once again, to the current Plaza which was then only a mound at the major works of water, around 1950, a large basin reservoir was built at the end of the Hill. It could therefore not do better to just smooth out to install a garden Belvedere and thus receive a table of orientation in 1977. Today, a mill, the mill Camoin, has been entirely renovated. This privileged place, found the city of Marseille, with our Lady of the guard and sometimes the islands of Friuli and Riou where the clarity of the sky.
