Its permanent staff exceeded sixty employees, not to mention the special domestic service that often accompanied customers. The hotel welcomed from its opening the rich winterers of the European aristocracy, mainly English and Russian, who often stayed there for several months, the climate of Menton being renowned at the time as being the best in Europe for health.
