The Saint Roch fort is part of the Maginot Line. Built in the 1930s, it required 5000 m3 of concrete and 385 tonnes of steel. The mission entrusted to the structure was not only to participate in the continuity of firing with neighboring structures to form a line of resistance, but also to block the Sospel-Breil railway line with its 75mm canon and its two 81 mm mortars of frontal action.
