This fountain of Brenon would have the virtue of making you more skillful. This is the meaning of the Provençal word "gaoubi": know-how, skill. We don't know the origin of this reputation. The principle of rosary pumps is used to pump up the water.
This building includes a catchment basin that supplies a fountain, a watering trough and a washhouse, placed in a linear arrangement.
The 0.40 m deep rectangular watering trough is made of jointed ashlar; the water reached the basins by means of a mechanism called a "roller pump": the supply pipe, by turning between rollers, brought the water up to the drainage barrel. This mechanism having disappeared, the fountain is permanently supplied with water by means of a cannon. The bucket bars that were used to deposit the buckets have now disappeared.
The water then flows into the 0.80 m deep washhouse, carved out of local hard limestone, where the sloping washing surface has been carved out of the mass. The floor has been covered with slate to prevent the formation of mud.
