L’atelier Soleil was set up in 1995 by Franck Scherer and his partner, Geraldine.

Modelling, embossing, turning; having parents that owned one of the most famous workshops in Moustiers, l’Atelier de Ségriès, Franck knows all these ceramic-making techniques inside-out. He even bought all the moulds from them in 2006. the workshop uses traditional techniques to reproduce highly sought-after classics, but it also makes pieces in modern shapes and motifs to keep up with the contemporary demands from its clients. In addition, the workshop employs the ‘petit feu’ technique (motif applied onto fired, rather than unfired, glaze which can tolerate a larger choice of colours during the decorating process) making 18th century Marseille Veuve Perrin and faïence de sceaux reproductions. As part of their daily routine, Géraldine and Franck work with passion and creativity to keep the rich tradition of Moustiers’s craftmanship alive.
