Inaugurated in 1892, the former Chemins de Fer du Sud de la France station is distinguished by its timeless elegance, marked by a harmonious marriage between the passenger building and the remarkable metal hall, a legacy of the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition.
After decades of rail service, the station closed its doors in 1991, to be reborn with a new look thanks to the vision of the City of Nice. Since 2012, it has housed a media library, providing a vibrant cultural space in the heart of the city. A remarkable restoration campaign, completed in 2019, has revealed the full splendour of this remarkable heritage, while the former metal hall has been transformed into a space dedicated to gastronomy, helping to revitalise the surrounding district.

Gare du Sud was built to open up the region and facilitate the transport of everyday goods to the towns of Meyrargues and Digne-les-Bains. The station is of historic and functional importance. More than just a place of transit, it was the starting point for many adventures for holidaymakers in search of new discoveries. The line linking Nice to Digne-les-Bains is still in operation today, offering travellers an authentic and picturesque experience through the enchanting landscapes of Provence.
