This beautiful 16th century residence has an original façade and elegant, finely sculpted mullioned windows. The Hôtel de Porcelet was the residence of one of the most famous families in Arles, which still has a street named after it. On the ground floor, the interior décor still includes a vaulted room decorated with 17th century paintings of the Four Seasons and the Allegories of the Four Cardinal virtues. One first floor room still has a French-style ceiling decorated with floral motifs in shimmering colours. A fresco in a medallion on the fireplace shows a mythological scene, the Fall of Phaeton, struck down by Zeus. The building was used as a school until 1979. It was restored between 1991 and 1997.
