The Hôtel Quiqueran de Beaujeu bears witness to the history of Arles in more ways than one.
It is the heir to a period of prosperity for the city, whose wealthy nobility and bourgeoisie left their mark on urban planning with their sumptuous private mansions.
The building bears witness to the majesty and charm of classical architecture inspired by Parisian mansions. Its name evokes a powerful, ancient Arles family, which produced numerous notables and had a profound influence on the town's history.
Today, it is part of the city's new identity as a city of images, housing the Ecole Nationale de la Photographie. The main facade, on the south side, features a refined decor, with the regular rhythm of its windows and the large triangular pediment above. Together with the building's two side wings, it frames a vast courtyard that opens onto the street via an imposing porch. In addition to preserving the unity of its exterior décor, the interior features a beautiful wrought-iron staircase.
