The Calvinist inscription and motto of Geneva "Post Tenebras Lux 1571" (After the Darkness, the Light) appears on the entablature of this remarkable Renaissance mullioned window.
Opposite the majestic façade of the Hôtel de Manville was a large residence dated 1571 (known as the Logis de Brisson-Peyre); all that remains is a muntin window whose entablature bears the Calvinist inscription 'Post Tenebras Lux 1571' (Light After Darkness). This affirmation of Protestant faith suggests the existence of an oratory of reformed worship. The reformed religion had many supporters in Les Baux, thanks to the tolerance of the then Baron of Les Baux, Honoré des Martins.
