Designed by the architect François-Victor Sabatier, the building was completed in 1859.
It is representative of the buildings trying to imitate a villa by the volume (one apartment per level, originally) and the layout, with its location in the center of a garden. The top floor is a 1910 addition. The stores were built on the edge of the plot around 1900.
