It exhibits a collection of prehistoric and Roman vestiges, a magnificent ex-voto collection and a Medieval garden of medicinal plants. The museum is arranged around an authentic icehouse dating from the 17th century.
The prehistoric objects come from the late-palaeolithic caves of the Blavet gorges, a spectacular wilderness in the area of La Bouverie.
The district of Les Issambres is better known for its Roman history. A Roman reservoir, where fish were bred and caught for food, has miraculously survived the passing centuries. This site became a listed Historical Monument in 1939.
