Le Village de la Roque-sur-Pernes, Rue Eugène Imbert, 84210 La Roque-sur-Pernes
Built atop a rocky crest, the village of La Roque sur Pernes overlooks intersecting valleys. A beautiful Provencal village off the major roads, a true creche scene come to life.
Panoramic views from on high. The shady, gracious village square holds an old olive oil mill and the lovely 'Renard' Fountain. Picturesque narrow winding streets. Saints Peter and Paul Church, described on the charter drawn up by Saint Victor Abbey in Marseille, has an altarpiece portraying the tragic events experienced by the Banate people (Souabes from the Danube, or the Banat French). This revived the village which at the time was declining. Beautiful bories on the road to Saumane recall the drystone architecture heritage prevalent in La Roque sur Pernes.
