Ville-Haute, 05100 Névache
This elegant sundial is located on the facade of a magnificent and imposing house in the hamlet of Ville-Haute. Located just behind the chapel of Saint Anthony, it borders the river Clarée.
This morning declining dial dates from 1843. Covered with white whitewash, it was restored in 1988 by Evelyne Ray-Peyrot: we see on the top of the ochre-coloured band the numbers: 19 on the left and 88. Decorated with two baskets of colorful flowers on its lower part. The lines indicating the hours are said 'arrowed' at the end, the style, in an arrow, slightly twisted is called polar, and is equipped with a leg. The motto of the dial 'VALE HORA? means 'Hail, Hour'.
