The museum features a permanent exhibition on the local Resistance. It retraces the historical events of the Second World War in Pernes and the surrounding area. Admission to the museum is free.
Inaugurated on May 27, 2013 to mark National Resistance Day, this museum is open to all history buffs or enthusiasts, sensitive to memories and stories of the 2nd World War.
The museum's collections, objects and local archives tell the story of these troubled years of the 20th century in Pernes-les-Fontaines and the surrounding area.
Documents and photos shed light on 2 major figures in the Vaucluse Resistance: Gabriel Moutte - founder of the local secret army Resistance group and former mayor of the commune - and Danton Milhet, founder of the F.T.P.F. maquis.
The trail also evokes life under German occupation, the terrible massacre by the Nazis of 5 young Resistance fighters on August 2, 1944, near Le Beaucet, and the events that contributed to the Liberation of Provence.
