As a privileged donor of Henri Matisse and his heirs, the city of Nice has chosen a place worthy of receiving this exceptional collection. On the hill of Cimiez, in the Villa des Arènes, are kept paintings, drawings, engravings, gouaches and sculptures of the artist. From the first portraits that gave birth to the Fauvism movement to the cut-out gouaches from the end of his life, this collection offers a rich and unique testimony to the artistic work of Matisse, an undisputed master of expression through color.
