The Ziem Museum was founded in 1908 and houses more than 8000 works: paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and various objects. It is located in the city centre of Martigues, in the Ferrières district. Admission is free.
The Ziem Museum was born of the dual impulse of the city and the painter who lived in Martigues. Enriched by an important bequest at the artist's death, the collections preserve several of his famous seascapes of Venice, Constantinople or Martigues. Within the museum, his work rubs shoulders with Provençal landscape painters, Fauvist painters and contemporary trends. The plurality of talents and renowned artists illustrate the richness of the collection built up over more than a century.
