The Museon Arlaten, a departmental museum of ethnography created at the end of the 19th century by the poet Frédéric Mistral, is a "place of memory" of Provencal society.
"Museon Arlaten", the name in Provençal of Frédéric Mistral's museum in Arles, translates its vocation. Conceived at the end of the 19th century by the poet of the félibrige, a great defender of Provencal culture, this museum project tells the story of life in Provence from the 18th century to the present day. The major renovation of this museum of ethnology has reaffirmed the desire to be anchored in today's society. The museography establishes a dialogue between heritage and contemporary realities.
