History of a craftsman's job which became nowadays an artist's profession: "the woodturning", and a rare and unique heritage object: "the studded ball", ancestor of the current pétanque ball.
The small village of Aiguines has been renowned for its woodturning since the 16th century! It's no coincidence, then, that the Musée des Tourneurs sur Bois (Woodturners' Museum) has been set up here, alongside the still-active workshops and the Escoulen School. Perfectly integrated into the local landscape, the museum's modern scenography highlights the richness of this heritage. From the first studded boxwood pétanque balls to contemporary creations.
