This monumental work is made up of 13 corten steel arches, each 27 metres long and weighing over 40 tonnes. The artist, a major figure in contemporary art, wanted to offer the viewer, from Avenue Stalingrad, a perspective that embraces the steel giant and the Cavalerie towers.
The aim of this installation is to show Arles' roots in both contemporary art and history.
It also has another meaning for Arles: to mark the renovation of the Cavalerie district, which embodies the modernization of Arles.
Arles has an immense past and an immense future.
