Oppidum d'Entremont, 960 avenue Fernand Benoit, 13090 Aix-en-Provence
At just 3km from the city center of Aix-en-Provence, the oppidum d'Entremont is an archaeological site classified as a Historic Monument of great importance.
Entremont is a Gallic village dating from the 2nd century BC. The site has been excavated since 1946. Remains of ramparts, housing, workshops, a room displaying the heads of enemies (a Celtic custom), statues and a wide range of objects have been found here. The oppidum (Roman settlement) is in a pleasant green park with open access during the site opening days and times.
The excavated statues and objects (ceramics, tools, etc.) are displayed in the Granet Museum.

The oppidum is owned by the French state and is chiefly managed by the Regional Archaeology Department (DRAC, Ministry of Culture). The Entremont Archaeological Association works to enhance the site.
