The oppidum, known indifferently as Salonet, sits on an independent hill above the town of Salon-de-Provence, in the heart of the property of the Abbaye de Sainte-Croix. Nearby are the ruins of a medieval chapel. Occupied by Ligurian populations, the oppidum served as a refuge and strategic site.
