Some history
This property was purchased in 1859 by Paul Cézanne's father. The painter was then 20 years old. Then in 1880, he set up a studio in the attic. Many paintings such as The avenue of chestnut or La Sainte Victoire were achieved in this property.

On the death of the artist's mother, the property was sold to Louis Granel. His daughter married Frederick Corsy, professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Marseille. In 1956, their son sold the property to the city of Aix en Provence, reserving the usufruct until his death in 2002.
